Global Cooperation Institute for Sustainable Cities (GCI)
Established in April 2011, the Global Cooperation Institute for Sustainable Cities (GCI) pursues its goal of addressing urban problems in partnerships with international organizations and academic institutions mainly located in Asia. It serves as the secretariat of the International Academic Consortium for Sustainable Cities (IACSC), an academic network created in 2009 under the initiative of Yokohama City University. The GCI tries to tackle global urban agendas through research activities in the following three areas; Environment, Urban Planning, and Public Health. The GCI also promotes student exchange activities with other IACSC member institutions, which are supported by YCU's International College of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Medicine.

Internationalization Initiatives
INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC CONSORTIUM FOR SUSTAINABLE CITIES (IACSC)

The IACSC was formed to contribute to promote sustainable cities by networking universities mainly in Asia, fostering collaboration with cities, international organizations, development agencies and NGOs.

SCIENCE SUMMER PROGRAM

Yokohama City University organizes an annual Science Summer Program, whereby students from various countries participate. The participating students will have the chance to join lectures by YCU's esteemed academicians,participate in workshops,and give presentations.

INTERNATIONAL LECTURE SERIES BY FOREIGN AMBASSADORS & OTHER VIPs

Since 2010, Yokohama City University has been hosting a series of lectures delivered by foreign ambassadors and other renowned leaders of international organizations, as part of our global education to help students understand current issues in the world.

EXCHANGE EVENT WITH HARVARD UNIVERSITY
Every year, Yokohama City University students participate in the Okurayama International Student Forum held at Okurayama Memorial Hall in Yokohama. Sponsored by the Reishauer Institute at Harvard University and the Yoko Okura Project Team, this annual event aims to promote cultural exchange between the United States and Japan, bringing together students from Harvard University and three universities in Japan, including YCU.
SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (SUDP)
The Sustainable Urban Development Program (SUDP) was initiated by Yokohama City University in 2012, as an educational program conducted in English, and is offered to both undergraduate and graduate students to learn about sustainable urban development.
SAKURA EXCHANGE PROGRAM IN SCIENCE
"Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science"(SAKURA Exchange Program in Science)is the program for enhancing exchanges between Asia and Japan of the youths who will play a crucial role in the future field of science and technology through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan.
